LOV says 'Thanks' to the community
On behalf of everyone involved - thank you for the support of our Thanksgiving Meal Program. After your article appeared, the community opened up their hearts and made it happen. It would not have been possible without the generous donations of food, equipment, the use of the Pavilion hall & kitchen and monetary support by caring individuals and businesses in the area.
It was a beautiful day, thanks to the over 400 volunteers who cooked, carved, served, delivered meals to the homebound, picked up dinner guests, distributed food boxes- blankets & sleeping bags to guests, worked in the kids area, set tables, decorated, entertained, loaded & transported everything needed from our Headquarters at Ruschin School to the Pavilion, stayed to clean up and take equipment and supplies back to Ruschin at the end of the day and on Friday. We are truly blessed to live in a community that can pull together and give of themselves for those less fortunate.
It was a wonderful day with 3,940 meals served. That includes those delivered to homebound people in Fremont, Newark, Union City, Hayward, San Leandro, San Lorenzo and Castro Valley, our Pavilion guests and the food baskets provided for those in need. A total of 244 turkeys, 85 hams & 385 pies were consumed, along with all the trimmings.
Our heartfelt thanks go to everyone who made this a special holiday for so many. It is our hope you will print this, as there is no way we can individually thank so many personally - as much as we would like to.
