Bellarmine College Preparatory is back at it again with its 53rd annual fashion show. This year the fashion show has been headlined as "The Boys are Back in Town!", and will feature a classic "Las Vegas" theme. The show is based on the Ocean's Eleven trilogy, hosting not only exceptional fashion models, but various performers, character actors, and dancers as well.

A reputed school throughout the entire nation, Bellarmine College Preparatory is an institution that has been specializing in the education of young men for the past 150 years. The school's motto is to "educate young men to become men for others," meaning that it prepares its students to help their communities. Bellarmine has over 1,500 students, many of whom come from areas stretching from San Francisco to Gilroy. A group of students come from Alameda County, many residing in the Greater Tri-City area of Hayward, Fremont, Newark, Union City, and Milpitas.

What makes Bellarmine special is that it offers a top-rate education to its students with a 100 percent graduation rate; all of its students go on to college. What is even more commendable is that this school accepts qualified individuals despite financial status.

This is the main reason behind the annual Bellarmine Fashion show, its single largest fundraising event, which has contributed over $2.2 million toward the financial aid of its students. Money raised from the fashion show aids 20 percent of Bellarmine's student body. Last year's event raised over $200,000, making the fashion show truly the event of the year.

This extravagant event is put together by a group known as the Bellarmine Mothers' Guild, composed of mothers of Bellarmine students. This year, the group consists of 140 women, who have volunteered many hours creating events to raise money for the school's population. Their monumental commitment spans an entire year prepping for the fashion show.

The annual fashion show began over fifty-three years ago as social tea parties at women's houses. So many supporters attended the tea parties that a larger space was required. These social events were moved to hotel after hotel, until the gatherings became so large that the fashion show was soon booked at the largest, classiest hotel of the area.

Milpitas realtor Debbie Rossetto is the chair of the Bellarmine Fashion Show this year, handling both the business and production aspects of the event. She has also underwritten a portion of the performances. The position of Chairperson has been hard work with 25 subcommittees working to ensure a successful event this year.

The 2007 mega-event of two shows - a luncheon and a dinner - will be held at the glamorous Fairmont hotel in San Jose. Both will host over a thousand people, and include many famous attendants including councilmen and politicians. Both are scheduled for Friday, Nov. 30, with lunch at 11 a.m. and dinner beginning at 6:30 p.m. The fashion show is considered to be a formal occasion, so "black-tie" attire is highly recommended.

Cocktails will be offered as a prelude to the meal and fashion show. The show will feature musicians, dancers, and of course, models. To become a part of the fashion show, each potential model is required to audition; modeling is reserved for the senior boys. Character actors will be impersonating the cast of Ocean's 11 as well as a group imitating Frank Sinatra's "Rat Pack."

With all the excitement planned, the luncheon has already sold out. Tickets to the dinner show are quickly disappearing, and with such a myriad of performances, the ticket price of $175 seems well worth it.

Mark your calendar for Friday, Nov. 30 and be part of a fabulous event. With food, special performances, and of course, modeling, the Bellarmine Fashion Show promises to be spectacular. Even better, all proceeds will go to an important cause, helping to educate the youth of our country. The boys are finally back in town; be sure not to miss their stay.
