Senior center offers holiday boutique
Submitted By Mary Fontes
The Boutique and "Sweet Shoppe" is an annual event at the Fremont Senior Center, and has been going on for quite a few years. Items for sale will include crafts, needlework, woodcarving, sewn and quilted items, jewelry, gift items and more. The proceeds from the "Sweet Shoppe" will go to the Senior Center as a donation. Most of the vendors are members of our quilting and craft classes as well as some of our very talented volunteers. We also have a few "outside" vendors that come to sell their wares.
Five years ago, I suggested we have a "Sweet Shoppe" and have our members bring in home-baked goodies to sell. That evolved into a "Tea Room" featuring some of the sweets and tea. This has been pretty well received and we have been getting more and more people enjoying a cup of tea with friends before or after they shop the boutique. Some of the cookies and goodies are baked in the Senior Center Kitchen by volunteers and Chef Riley who prepares all the wonderful meals at the Center.
