Final regular season games for Juice
Submitted By Nanette Cook
Saturday, Oct. 20, Juice, FC Fremont's Girls Under-12 soccer team clinched second place and a trip to the Sunset Tournament with a 3-1 over Quicksilver.
In the first half, Juice dominated the game by keeping the ball in their end of the field. The outstanding defense play of Carissa Saylor, Harleen Singh, and Harsimron Hothi prevented Quicksilver from taking any shots.
In the second half, Juice got the scoring started when Peyton Cook, on a pass from Mary Fowler, snuck one past the Quicksilver goalie. Shortly after, on a pass from Tori Nelson, Cook tapped in one more for a 2-0 lead. Quicksliver answered with a goal of their own to make the score 2-1. As time was winding down, Juice sealed the win when Claire Normoyle dribbled the ball down field, weaving in and out of Quicksilver traffic, and booted it into the net, bringing the final score to 3-1 and clinching a second place finish for Juice.
On Monday, Oct. 22, in the final game of the regular season, Juice faced the Destroyers and brought their extremely tough defense to the match. The stellar play of Juice's Emily Hoeven, Kristi Ocon, Rachel Wong, and Christina Martin made it almost impossible for the Destroyers to penetrate Juice's goal.
The game ended in a 1-1 tie with Claire Gallegos scoring the only goal for Juice on a very impressive shot from outside the penalty box that soared over the goalies head and into the back of the net. Juice had one final scoring opportunity, but the Destroyers goalie made an impressive save to preserve the tie.
Juice finished the season at 8-1-2 (8 wins, 1 loss and 2 ties). With the regular season over, Juice are now preparing for the Directors Cup, and are looking forward to the Sunset Tournament in a few weeks.
