Open Mic Reading
Submitted By Bob Garfinkle
The South Bay Branch of the California Writers Club (CWC) and the Fremont Branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) are co-sponsoring an Open Mic session on Thursday, Oct. 18 at Barnes and Noble in Fremont from 7-9 p.m. We meet near the History section at the back of the store. October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and some people who are planning on reading their work will be reading something related to this topic.
October has also been designated by the California State Legislature as "California Writers Month". We honor our rich heritage of writers who lived or worked in our state with events during the third week of this month. Come and read a selection from your own writing, or a favorite author. You will be given 5-10 minutes to read. If you do not want to read, sit back and have fun listening to others read, have a cup of coffee, etc.
An Open Mic session is an opportunity for authors to try out their material before a live audience. We will be holding Open Mic sessions on the third Thursday of each month at the Barnes and Nobel. The Open Mic is free and open to the public.
Third Thursday of every month
