Caution - Cyclones rematch
Submitted By Ed Ohye
It was a Sunny and cool afternoon at Fremont's Central Park, perfect weather for a House League soccer game. This was a rematch for teams Caution and Cyclones. The Cyclones defeated Caution in their previous contest 1-0. The Caution girls wanted to even up the score with a win in the October 6th rematch.
Cyclones scored first on a perfectly executed corner kick. Following the goal, Caution midfielders Rachel Heng and Niku Jafarnia moved the ball forward to waiting forwards Nan Li and Zahra Sarwary. Nan then took a shot which bounced off the Cyclone keeper and fell right in front of Zahra's feet. Zahra was able to deflect the ball into the net to tie the game 1-1.
The score stayed tied until late in the second half because of the outstanding efforts of the Caution defense. The defense included Kamya Raja, Nicole Gronski, Erica Ohye, Christina Kim and goalie Sara Talooi who made many brilliant saves. In the 30th minute of the second half, Caution's offense came alive. With the help of Caution forwards Rachel Mcmullen, Alexis Kageyama, and Selina Mahesri, Caution's Malika Rajvanshy was able to blast the ball into the back of the Cyclone net for the winning goal! |
