October 16, 2007 > Bowl-A-Thon remembers Dylan Michael Johnson Bowl-A-Thon remembers Dylan Michael Johnson Submitted By Veronica Johnson On Saturday, October 20, I will be hosting the 8th Annual Memorial Bowl-A-Thon in memory of my son, Dylan Johnson. This event is being held at Cloverleaf Family Bowl, 40645 Fremont Blvd in Fremont. My son, Dylan, was born with Congenital Heart Disease/Congestive heart failure. Congenital heart disease occurs once in every 100 babies born. At nine days of age, Dylan had his first of three open heart surgeries. On July 27, 2000, at the tender age of two, Dylan passed away. Ten days before his passing, Dylan had a wish granted through the Make-A-Wish Foundation of San Francisco. Dylan's wish was to meet Mickey Mouse. The Make-A-Wish Foundation made it possible for Dylan to travel to Disneyland. Without the assistance of the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Dylan's wish would never have come true. The Make-A-Wish Foundation is funded entirely by donations. Money raised is used to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening illnesses. The average wish currently costs $9,000. All donations to the Make-A-Wish Foundation are tax deductible. (Federal Tax ID # 94-2958481) I became involved with raising funds for the Make-A-Wish Foundation after my son, Dylan, received his wish. Since the passing of my son, I have raised $52,000 for this wonderful organization. I am currently looking for sponsors or any type of donation for our raffle, silent auction and live auction. We are in need of Raiders, Niners, Sharks and Warriors tickets. The greater the number of new items donated, the more funds I am able to raise for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
