Agami fundraiser for Bangladesh
Submitted By Sophia Rahman
Agami will be hosting a fundraising event on October 19, 2007 at 7 p.m. It will be held at Chandni Restaurant, 5748 Mowry School Road in Newark. The purpose of this event is to raise funds to support projects that promote basic education amongst underprivileged children of Bangladesh.
The evening will include a South Asian style dinner, stand-up comedy and live DJ music. Anand Chulani, the first Indian ever to write for an American sitcom and also a member of the Gurus of Comedy tour (featuring Russell Peters) is scheduled to headline the night.
Agami is a non-profit charitable organization that has been working since 2003. To date, approximately 2500 students have received assistance to pay for books, their teachers' salaries, tuition, and school supplies. Agami has also funded teacher training and student scholarships. The end goal of Agami is to make a village self sufficient, which can only be done through an integrated program of education, public health and economic initiatives.
Tickets for the event will be $35 per person. For more information about the event and online ticket purchase, please visit www.agami-us.org. For questions and additional information please contact Babu Rahman at firstname.lastname@example.org or (510) 599-8224.
