September 18, 2007 > Firebirds, FC Fremont Under-12 Girls House League Soccer Firebirds, FC Fremont Under-12 Girls House League Soccer Submitted By Blaise Castren Firebirds opened the season with a pair of convincing victories, 5-0 over Vipers on Saturday, September 8 and 2-0 over Stompers played Monday, the 10th. In the opener against Vipers, Jenna Wondka and Raquel Rodas each scored two goals; Ashley Campbell added a goal and an assist while Elena Strom had two assists and Rodas another. Meanwhile, Synclaire Hamilton had a stellar game in midfield. Against Stompers, Firebirds lost Wondka to an injury early in the second game, but were still able to defeat a tough Stompers team. Rodas opened the scoring versus Stompers when she tallied a goal late in the first half on an assist from Campbell. Strom added the clincher by dribbling through the defense and firing a shot high over the Stomper goalie's head. Firebirds' defensive trio of Eva Liu, Samantha Stephens, and Ciara Valdez foiled the Stompers time and again to preserve the shut-out.
