Summer Concert Series Comes to a Close
By Mekala Raman
After a three year break, Fremont brought back the popular Summer Concert Series this season. Unfortunately, we have reached the conclusion of the summer season and the series, sponsored by The Saddle Rack, will present its final performances on Sunday, September 16, the anniversary of Celebrate Fremont. Scheduled to perform are "The Hitmen" and "The Jukebox Heroes" of the Bay Area. The Saddle Rack will be offering an a la carte menu for their barbeque.
"The Hitmen" of Campbell started performing in 1995 and have performed throughout the Western United States. Band members Victor Montez, Ruben Chavez, Jim Howseman, Kelly Aronica, Benny Holguin Jr., Mike Connolly, and Ernest Herrera perform in various genres including Dance, Funk, Latin, and Motown. They also play songs from different eras, mixing disco of the '70s and '80s with modern R&B.
Steve Medeiros, Jim Shannon, Bill Remington, Dave Fritz, and Ric Perez of "The Jukebox Heroes" have performed in festivals, fairs, corporate functions, and nightclubs in various venues of Northern California and even made a special trip to Maui. They play dance music from the '60s onwards and they also perform some of their own works.
On Sunday, "The Hitmen" will perform first at 2:00 p.m. and "The Jukebox Heroes" will follow at 4:00 p.m. Say your last farewells to summer with a festive afternoon of music and dancing with these two bands at Fremont's Central Park.
