TOPS win Walnut Creek Summerfest Tournament
Submitted By TOPS
The FC Fremont TOPS, a U-11 girls Division I soccer team, finished the summer tournament season by dominating the Walnut Creek Summerfest tournament, capturing their 2nd championship of the month. The TOPS crushed Lamorinda United 96 (8-0) in their first game and, in game 2, TOPS thoroughly controlled the action and efficiently dispatched the Heritage Panthers (4-0).
Needing a win to move to the championship game, TOPS took on league rival MDSL Shockwaves. TOPS dominated early action and netted the game's first goal. The game turned physical and with TOPS down to 11 players, defense took over, blanketing the Shockwaves resulting in a 2-0 win.
In the championship game, TOPS met home team Walnut Creek Dynamos. Having lost to the Dynamos in last week's tournament, the TOPS got their revenge, winning 2-0 and capturing the championship. The TOPS went through the weekend without giving up a single goal thanks to Claudia Robinson, Lauren Clark, Dinaz Bamji, Jessica Hernandez, Vienna Curtis, Rebecca Ryan, and Megan Coffey while scoring 16 goals thanks to Tylore Bell, Yvette Cuellar, Juliana McCuaig, Jarna Patel, Sharon Singh, and Eva Becerra.
