Mission Valley ROP receives generous donation

Submitted By Karen Mangon

Mission Valley ROP (MVROP) received a generous donation of equipment and supplies from the City of Fremont's Environmental Services Division. The donations include new oil drain pans and a portable car wash station.

"We thank the City of Fremont for their generous donation that will directly benefit our Automotive Technology program," stated Charles Brown, MVROP Superintendent. "The supplies and equipment will reinforce the importance of proper recycling and disposal of hazardous waste products used in class."

"We are delighted to support Mission Valley ROP programs," added Michelle Pelayo, Environmental Specialist for the City of Fremont. "We hope to encourage students to demonstrate appropriate environment-safe methods and techniques learned in class."

Students use the oil drain pans to collect oil from cars during routine oil changes. The used oil is then disposed of at authorized recycling centers. The water collected in the portable car wash station can be recycled and reused for other purposes, as well.
