July 31, 2007 > Family Fun Triathlon Family Fun Triathlon Submitted By Sherry L. Nikzat Back by popular demand! If you missed it last year, you won't want to miss it this time. A fun, healthy, community activity, the Family Fun Triathlon is back, and registration is just starting! This year's event will be Saturday, September 8th at Newark's Silliman Activity and Family Aquatic Center. This year, there are two ways to participate: registration will be accepted for relay teams, or for individual racers. Relay teams will consist of a minimum of two (2) people, maximum of three (3). At least one relay team member must be between the ages of 6 and 15 years. Individual racers must be between the ages of 6 and 17 years. The event includes an indoor swim (300 yards for ages 11 and up, 150 yards for ages 6 through 10), a 3.35 mile bike course, and a 1.08 mile surface area run, all completed to the cheers of onlookers. All pre-registered participants receive a free event t-shirt and are eligible for fabulous raffle prizes. Best of all, the entire event is FREE, thanks to a generous grant from Kaiser Permanente. Robek's will be providing free smoothie samples, participants receive free entry to the Aquatic Center for the entire day, there will be free health information, and unlimited fun! In the meantime, build your endurance and stamina by working out at the fitness center, water walking against the lazy river current, dropping in to play basketball, or taking a spinning class, all at the award-winning Silliman Activity and Family Aquatic Center.
