LifeScan named Corporate Citizen of the Year
The Milpitas Chamber of Commerce has named LifeScan, Incorporated as the 2007 Corporate Citizen of the Year. The company has been an active chamber member since 1990 and employs 2,500 people in Milpitas.
LifeScan is a strong supporter of the community as stated in their Credo "We are responsible to the communities in which we live and work and to the world community as well." With the Credo as their guide, LifeScan provides monetary and product support to many non-profit organizations in Milpitas as well as Silicon Valley and beyond. LifeScan has entered into a partnership with Milpitas High school by awarding a three-year Bridge to Employment Grant to the MHS Science Department. The grant offers educational opportunities to teachers at Milpitas High school to learn hands-on applications in biotechnology, enabling them to bring their newfound knowledge to the classroom. It also enables the school to purchase new equipment and supplies for the classroom.
LifeScan's 2006 support of Calaveras Repertory Theatre's Page to Stage Program enabled all nine of the Milpitas Unified School District's elementary schools as well as the district's two Child Development Centers to experience a live production of classic children's tales. |
