San Francisco Bay Area Curling Club updates
By Biff Jones
San Francisco Bay Area Curling Club (SFBACC) has recently received two additional sheets of ice. With more ice available they will be holding extra practice sessions and pick-up games at Logitech Ice, 1500 South 10th Street, San Jose (next to San Jose Municipal and Spartan Stadiums) on Tuesday nights, 8-10 p.m. Cost is $20 per person. Pay Logitech at the door, and it is limited to sixteen people per session.
Anyone interested in these Tuesday night sessions should try to sign-up in advance, if possible, by e-mailing Gabrielle Coleman or Mason Kong at firstname.lastname@example.org . Let them know what you are interested in doing (practice or pick-up games) and any other specific things you'd like to work on, such as draw weight, mixed doubles, etc. This will help them to structure the session.
On Tuesday mornings they will send out an e-mail with the tentative plan for that night based on participant preferences. SBFACC always reserves the right to change the plan at the last minute if so needed.
Spring league sign-ups
The spring league at Shark's Ice, 44388 Old Warm Springs Blvd., Fremont has drawn a lot of folks, including some experienced curlers who are new to SFBACC. If interested, you can still sign up as a spare. The spring league curls on Thursday nights 8-10 p.m.
SFBACC will have a one day bonspiel (fun spiel tournament) all day on Saturday, May 26, from 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. Cost will be $30 per person. It will be a skins format, so every team will be competitive.
One day bonspiel Memorial Day weekend
All curlers can participate; you do not have to be a member of SFBACC. You may enter a team or as individuals from which teams will be formed. If you do not have any equipment, the club will provide brooms, sliders, stick delivery systems and a couple of stabilizers, if needed. If you cannot open the PDF link, contact Bonspiel Chairman Lyle Sieg at email@example.com.
