Special election set for FC Fremont Soccer League

At last month's meeting, the FC Fremont Board of Directors voted to comply with a finding by California Youth Soccer Association North (CYSA) District III, that a new election be held. This is due to irregularities in FC Fremont's November elections conducted at the Annual General Meeting.
In part of its ruling, CYSA cited a failure to adhere to league by-laws by allowing non-voting members to cast ballots. Article III of the by-laws, "Membership and Voting Rights" lists eligibility guidelines.
The Special Election will be Monday, April 16, at Fremont Marriott Hotel, 46100 Landing Parkway. Polls will open at 6:30 p.m. and remain open through 9:30 p.m.
Candidates for office are:
President, Steve Harrington, Elmer Suarez, Larry Thompson; Instructional League Director, Alexandro A. Garcia, Luis Garcia, Charmaine Stroud; Competitive League Director, Paul Aboumrad, Rob Hernandez, Alex Palomares; Tournament Director, Jay Cooper, Troy Marshall; and Referee Manager Doug Laidlaw, Victor Olivas, Doug Ward.
All members of FC Fremont (Fremont Youth Soccer League) with voting rights are encouraged to cast a ballot. The winning candidates of the Special Election will hold their offices for the remainder of 2007 and the entire year of 2008.
