AlmaVia presents 'Cancer Basics' seminar
The local community will have the opportunity to learn about cancer prevention, diagnosis, screening and treatment during an upcoming presentation titled, "Cancer Basics," scheduled Thursday, March 22 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Gathering Room at AlmaVia Assisted Living in Union City.
Presented by the American Cancer Society (ACS), this seminar will be and is intended to provide a general overview covering cancer risks in addition to outlining the screening guidelines for Prostate, Colorectal and Breast cancers, followed by a review of several support programs and available resources.
In addition the presentation also covers the mission of ACS and Vision 2015 relative to mortality (deaths) and incidence (cases) goals. Some other statistics will also be shared including information on who is at greater risk, the most common causes of cancer deaths among men and women and how lifestyle choices can help control ones destiny.
AlmaVia Assisted Living is a part of Elder Care Alliance, a nonprofit faith based organization committed to serving and enriching the physical, emotional and spiritual wellbeing of older adults.
