Celebrate "Spirit of American"
On Friday, March 9, at 6 p.m., American High School students, teachers, volunteers and staff will host a "Spirit of American" festival. The event will be the grand finale of the school's International Week that begins March 5.
AHS Principal Mitchell Carter said the evening's festivities will be "a celebration of the school community's tremendous diversity on an evening where everyone can come together at school for a good time. We want to shine a spotlight on our students and the AHS community and to demonstrate the collective strength that our individual diverse backgrounds produce."
"The festival will feature displays from all of our clubs, ethnic music and dance, as well as food - lots of food - from all over the world," he said. "I really encourage parents, guardians, families and other community members to stop by to the join in the fun and to support the students and volunteers who have worked so hard to organize the event. We hope we can make this a night we all will remember."
Anyone interested in more information about the event or making a contribution should call the AHS office at 796-1776.
