Climb on the Del Sol Express
Take an imaginary train journey through Central and South America aboard the Del Sol Express! This hour-long performance takes place at 2 p.m. Sunday afternoon, February 11, 2007 at Smith Center for the Fine and performing Arts, Ohlone College, 43600 Mission Blvd., Fremont. View scenes of our neighbors to the south and hear the sounds, styles and rhythms of Mexico, Cuba, Peru and Argentina. Part of the Fremont symphony's "Musical treats - Adventures in Music for Children and Families," the concert is designed to entertain and enlighten the entire family. Founded in 1992, the award-winning Del Sol String Quartet has appeared on programs presented by San Francisco Performances, Montalvo Arts Center and Santa Fe New Music/Santa Fe Opera, among others. Outreach to young listeners is an integral part of their activities, and they have performed over 300 concerts for more than 30,000 young people. Emphasizing local and living composers, the Quartet brings the vitality of contemporary music to new audiences.
