Special Eagle Court of Honor
While any Boy Scout Court of Honor is important, ones held for the recognition of the rank of Eagle Scout are the most special as they recognize the highest level of achievement for a young man in Scouting. Troop 176 of Fremont held one such event on January 7th, honoring Brandon Louie of Fremont for his achievement. The event was held at the Fremont Community Church and was attended by a large gathering of family, friends, and Boy Scouts from Troop 176.
At the same time, another special event took place during the same ceremony - the return of the Blue Star Flag to the family of LTC Garrett Yee. Mr. Yee is an adult leader in Troop 176 and has just returned home to Fremont from a tour of duty in Iraq. The displaying of a Blue Star Flag has been a tradition where people honor those currently serving away from home in a time of war. During Mr. Yee's absence, Troop 176 proudly displayed an official Blue Star Flag as part of their Troop flags.
Mr. Yee's tour of duty had been highlighted during 2006 through the sharing of his personal journal with the citizens of Fremont in the Tri-City Voice.
