Our Community - We all belong
The plaintive cry of "why can't we all just get along" has often been voiced, but often disregarded at the visceral level of many Americans. When faced with humanitarian crisis, there is no land or people more willing to reach out and share resources and empathize, the news is filled with examples of every manner of mortal sin including one of the most prevalent, hate. What is it that stirs such malevolent emotion and actions? Although the issue is worldwide in context and of epidemic proportions, the solution may be within our own community.
Join local citizens in the second of a series of forums to explore this perplexing and destructive force. This forum will focus on feelings of exclusion and how to combat speech and actions that foster feelings of difference. The goal of these gatherings is to promote practical actions that can be used at all levels of our community to foster feelings of inclusion and discourage hate speech and thought. The program will include a film clip from Not in Our Town - Northern California and a panel discussion featuring a broadly diverse cross-section of the community.
Are you ready to become part of the solution?
