Green Gators take Third Placeby Blaise Castren
On Saturday and Sunday, November 11 - 12, Green Gators concluded a successful season by winning their final three games of the Director’s Cup for the U-12, Girls Division of FC Fremont House League. Green Gators, who finished the season 13 and 4, defeated Stompers 2-0, to capture third-place. The victory avenged a 2-1 loss to Stompers during the regular season.
After losing 4-0 to Pumas in the opening game, Gators came up with 1-0 victories over both Tigers and Anacondas. Rebecca Jacobson's second-half goal broke a scoreless tie against Tigers after Synclaire Hamilton dribbled half the length of the field to set up the winner. In the victory over Anacondas, Lacey Cook scored the lone goal off an assist from Madison Cook.
Green Gators received goals from Katie Courville and Jacobson in the third-place game, while Madison Cook added another assist on a great crossing pass to set up the first goal. Sarah McWaid had an excellent game on defense while Erika Nieve was a standout in midfield. Abigail Harrison and Julie Hancock were among Gators standouts during the tournament. |
