Unique Christmas shoppingby Arathi Satish
Kick off the holiday shopping season with unique and one-of-a-kind items at bargain basement prices! Area artists will soon showcase their wares of handcrafted items at the annual Olive Hyde Holiday for the Arts Show and Sale beginning at a Gala opening, Friday, December 1 and continuing throughout the weekend.
The majority of artists are local, but some of the 86 artists represented at the show come from other areas, as far away as Nevada. To bring the public the very best and widest selection this is a juried show meaning that each artist qualified to participate through a judging process. This year, six judges made the decisions and of 64 new artists interested in taking part in the show, only 31 were selected. Other participating artists have displayed and sold their works in previous shows. Through this process, each year, shoppers have the opportunity to buy from new displays and pick up some of their old favorites.
To add variety and sparkle to your holiday decor, these artists have priced their work at extremely reasonable prices that must be seen to be appreciated. The show will include an extensive variety of art including paintings, photography, ceramics, glass, metal, jewelry, fiber, wood and other holiday goods. In addition an excellent selection of wreaths, hand painted and knitted scarves, hats, table runners, placemats, and napkins will be available. A portion of all sales benefit the Olive Hyde Art Guild.
