Doug Gephart, superintendent for Fremont Unified School District in Fremont, CA, recently began his term as president of the executive board of the American Association of School Personnel Administrators (AASPA) for the 2006-2007 membership year. Gephart began his term following the annual business meeting October 20, 2006, at AASPA’s 68th Annual Conference in Detroit, MI.
Gephart will serve a one year as president, then another year as immediate past president. His duties as president include setting the agenda for and leading three executive board meetings; serving on the personnel committee; appointing all committee chairs; and supervising the financial operations of AASPA Headquarters. AASPA’s Executive Board is made up of four officers and six region representatives from across the United States.
Dr. Jody Shelton, AASPA executive director, said, “We are pleased to have Doug Gephart as our executive board president. He has already proven himself to be a positive asset to our board and we know he will be a strong leader in bringing AASPA to the next level.”
The American Association of School Personnel Administrators is an international organization that exists to provide leadership in promoting effective human resource practices within education. Headquartered in Olathe, KS, AASPA holds an annual conference in October and various regional professional development opportunities throughout the year besides providing other valuable benefits to its 1950 members.
