Carnival of Starsby Mona Shah
Spend an enjoyable day and get an early start on holiday shopping at the Carnival of Stars, a holiday gift festival with a twist. Saturday and Sunday, November 11 – 12 marks the third year of this highly innovative event which combines the best of comic book artists, holiday shopping and belly dancing. Sounds like a strange combination, but it works!
The festivities begin both days at 10:30 a.m. and will continue until 9:00 p.m. with continuous entertainment featuring folkloric and cabaret belly dance. The line-up of performers includes some of the best known dancers in the country and the public is invited to enter a costume contest for cash prizes and trophies.
Ghawazee.com an international market will feature arts and crafts, belly dance costumes, jewelry, comic books, and gifts of all kinds. Vendors will have unusual wares for holiday gifts, as well as costuming and supplies for dancers. Moroccan cuisine will be provided by Tanjia Restaurant. Featured cartoonists and artists in attendance will include Spain, Dan O Neill, Hal Robbins, Paul Mavride, George Powell, Randy Vogel, Bob Levin, Erick Yee, Jim White (The Clones Æ Rock Group).
