Ben Elias
Occupation: university administrator
- Construct a new library without issuing a new bond.
- Provide better services at a lower cost.
I will bring to the council an independent voice and a tradition of service excellence, such as safer streets, fiscal responsibility, new parks, additional library hours, hillside protection, a quality school system, transportation improvements and economic development. I was an honor to have served Union City for 11 years. Due to my leadership as a councilmember and vice-mayor, Union City is a better place to live. I will work for the completion of a new library, youth and senior programs, affordable housing and an inter-modal transit station next to a vibrant downtown.

Manuel "Manny" Fernandez

- Increase city revenues through economic growth.
- Maintain the finest police and fire departments possible.
I have served with three mayors and four city managers. I have been elected five times and if re-elected again, I will be serving my sixth term. My record shows the trust the people of Union City have afforded me and I am greatly honored for their support over the years. I believe that my experience, background and education will continue to serve Union City well in keeping it moving in the right direction.

Richard Valle

- Create more programs for youth to prevent violence.
- Build a new city library and a new fire station.
For the first time in its history, Union City has a budgetary reserve of at least 20 percent. My support of this reserve demonstrates my commitment to fiscal responsibility and a sound financial future. Also, I'm very proud of introducing our Inclusionary Housing Ordinance which makes affordable housing for lower income families a reality.

I believe I am the right person to continue to serve on the city council because I care about people and I love helping them. Over the years, I have established relationships with people and organizations that have allowed me to be an effective leader. Plus, my business is located in town so I am easily accessible to the public.
