Hidden Treasures by Local Talentby Arathi Satish
There are countless works of art, some by your neighbors, going unnoticed simply because they are not publicly displayed. Olive Hyde Art Gallery’s current exhibit is uncovering some of these works for all to see and admire. Hidden Treasures/Local Talent III displays a collage of this local artwork that will be available for viewing through November 19.
It is an amazing experience to walk into the gallery and see the rooms overflowing with artworks of different media and style. Sculptures, digital prints, water colors, charcoal, mixed media, metal welding, acrylic, etc are all displayed next to each other. It is definitely an exhibit to be seen.
This bi-annual exhibit can be attributed to the creative energy of Gallery Curator, Sandra Hemsworth. She wants to encourage local artists who are passionate about the Visual Arts. Sandra says, “The level of skill and arts education is not the primary objective, passion is.” She looks for artists and artisans who are committed to a personal journey of expression through art. Viewers can expect a wide range of originality in the artworks featured since artist selection is based on the pursuit of new depths in their artwork.
The following artists have been selected to display their work: Shweta Agrawal, Judy Anglin, Joane Azevedo-Luesse, Lily Anne Barone, Elizabeth Chavoor, Jesse Y. Chen, Edie Christensen, Rena Dein, Jacline Deridder, Jacline Deridder, S. Irene Mary Diones, Alvin Dockter, Katie Fox, Kevin Fox, Willard D.
