Washington Hospital chosen as a distinguished hospital by HealthGradesby Washington Hospital
Dedication to quality is a guiding principle at Washington Hospital. Guided by the patient first ethic, staff, physicians and volunteers at Washington Hospital are dedicated to providing patients with the highest possible quality of care. These efforts have now been recognized by the nation’s leading source for health care quality information.
Washington Hospital is proud to announce that it is the recipient of the 2006 Distinguished Hospital Award for Clinical Excellence, which places the Hospital among the top five percent in the nation for Clinical Excellence according to HealthGrades. Washington Hospital is one of only 20 hospitals in California and among 277 out of 5,122 nationally to receive this distinction.
HealthGrades is the leading, nationwide health care ratings, information, and advisory services company. The company uses proprietary, objective provider ratings and expert advisory services, to compile its ratings. HealthGrades produces its ranking and ratings in a report released annually.
“HealthGrades has affirmed what we already know that our doctors and caregivers provide high-quality care and that leads to better outcomes for our patients,” said Nancy Farber, Chief Executive Officer of Washington Hospital Healthcare System. “This award is a great honor especially in light of the numerous quality initiatives we have instituted at the hospital.”

“The initiatives outlined by IHI have become the standard of care at Washington Hospital,” said Bernard Stewart, D.D.S., President of Washington Township Health Care District Board of Directors. “I’m proud to be a part of an initiative that ensures improved outcomes for the Hospital’s patients. The award from HealthGrades helps to reinforce our efforts.”
