Fremont Youth & Family Services, a division of Fremont's Human Services Department will be hosting a series of classes for parents of vulnerable teens and pre-teens. Course materials were developed by police, counselors and educators. Class meets for 10 weeks starting Thursday, October 5 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.
THE PARENT PROJECT - Offers parents a way to love and show affection to their kids again.
- Teaches effective ways to discipline out-of-control or strong willed kids, thereby reducing conflicts and ineffective arguing.
- Offers tips for parents to help their child improve school performance and attendance.
- Aids parents in recognizing, confronting and intervening into any substance abuse and gang involvement.
Cost of the entire 10 - week series is $150.00 for single parents and $275.00 for a couple (workbook and materials are included).
Workshop Facilitators, Jean and Ron Arnett, are a dynamic husband and wife team with a wealth of practical and professional experience. Jean is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with Fremont's Youth & Family Services. Ron is a retired police officer and FUSD educator. Together, they lead this practical, dynamic course, not only as professionals, but also as parents who understand the unique challenges of parenting.
