The Fremont Flash, girls Under 12 Division I soccer team, had an outstanding weekend at the Napa Valley Wine Classic posting four straight victories.
In the 5-0 victory over the Juventus Firebrands, the Flash dominated the field on both offense and defense with goalies Kylie Kester and Kimberley McLaughlin combining for the shutout. Megan Ravenscroft started the scoring with an outstanding shot from outside while Brianna Lujan had an awesome game with 3 goals including an assist from Sydney Tapia. Goalie Kester also had a breakaway goal with an assist from Kristen Moyer, to add to the scoring. Awesome defense from Taylor Garden, Anna Monobe and Serena Singh helped ensure the win.
Against the Castro Valley Ravens, the Flash scored all three goals in the first half on a breakaway goal by Tapia, another goal from Ravenscroft assisted by Serena Singh, and a long shot goal from Tamara Aboumrad. Again, the defense played well, holding the Ravens to one goal on strong play from Reina Raskop, Shaina Charles, McLaughlin, Garden.
In a tough match with the Palo Alto Blue 95 Victory, the Flash came out with a 1-0 win as the only goal came from Ravenscroft. The shutout was registered by goalkeeper Kester.
The final game against the Heritage Gold Rush showed the strength of the Fremont team as they continued their win streak with a 4-1 victory. The team played tough defense and worked together to ensure the win. Excellent corner kicks from Aboumrad led to 2 goals by Lujan, while a strong kick from just inside the goal box led to a goal by Tori Salazar. The final goal came from Lujan with an assist from Danielle Carothers on a strong feed. |
