Marvin Remmich, prominent East Bay businessman, has pledged a $100,000 "faculty excellence endowment" to the College of Business and Economics at California State University, East Bay.

The announcement of Remmich's gift was made by Norma Rees, former CSUEB president, at a recent meeting of the Cal State East Bay Educational Foundation.

"This is a very generous gift by Mr. Remmich," said Mo Qayoumi, who succeeded Rees as university president on July 1. "We are honored and pleased that Mr. Remmich has chosen to support excellence in public higher education at his alma mater. We consider his gift a vote of confidence in CSUEB and its commitment to our regional mission in the East Bay."

Remmich, founder and president of RAM Properties in Danville and an alumnus of the university, indicated that in addition to rewarding excellence in teaching, he hopes his latest gift will encourage other business people to support Cal State East Bay.

A trustee of the Cal State East Bay Educational Foundation since 2005, Remmich founded RAM Properties, a residential and investment real estate firm, in 1974. He is a real estate broker, accredited buyer representative, certified residential broker, certified financial planner, and a notary public. Before starting RAM Properties, Remmich was chief financial officer of Doctors Hospital of San Leandro (now San Leandro Hospital).
