Newark City Council Meeting

Presentations and Proclamations

The meeting began with the approval of the minutes of the last Council meeting held on June 22. All members of the Council were present with the exception of Mayor Smith; Council member Freitas conducted the meeting in his place. Under proclamations, the Newark Pavilion/Sociedade Do Espirito Santo (S.E.S.) received a proclamation in honor of their Holy Ghost Festival. The festival will be held on the weekend of June 22 and 23 and S.E.S. encouraged everyone to attend. This year marks the 84th anniversary of the Society in the city of Newark and members of S.E.S. attended the meeting to accept the proclamation, bearing gifts of sweet bread for the city staff and Council.

Council Matters
The meeting adjourned in memory of Willem G. Wolbertus, a retired civil engineer for the city of Newark. The Council extended their condolences to his family and friends.
