Newark City CouncilCorporate games winners announced
The Newark City Council awarded handsome trophies to this year's Corporate Games winners at their June 8 meeting. Mayor David Smith recognized winners and runners-up in three divisions. He noted that assignment to divisions is based on number of employees. This year, more than 400 employees, representing 11 corporations, competed in the contests of skill and teamwork.
Division III champions Matheson Tri-Gas received a trophy as did runner-up Morton Salt. In Division II, ETM Electromatic edged out Cargill Salt. And in Division I, GE Security accepted runner-up honors behind ... yes ... the City of Newark! Paint and Processing, Inc. received a Sportsmanship award recognizing their first year of participation.
In other business of note, the council endorsed Tri-City Senior Action Plan goals and appointed representatives for Newark. Councilmember Sue Johnson was nominated and approved to serve on the Political Advisory Council of the Tri-City Elder Coalition's Robert Wood Johnson Implementation Grant and Carol McCarty was named Senior Advisory Council representative.
