New Decoto Farmers' Market
If Saturdays are booked, why not visit the brand new Decoto Farmers' Market, beginning June 25? Union City is partnering again with the Pacific Coast Farmers' Market Association (www.pcfma.com) adding this Sundays-only venue, running June 25 through November 19. Watch for the banner on Mission Boulevard just south of Whipple Road.
Input from the community prompted the city to expand their markets, according to Chris Valuckas, Union City Program Coordinator. "We want to draw attention to the redevelopment and improvements we're doing in the Decoto area. It's redevelopment money that funds both of our farmers' markets."
Opening day on the 25th will feature special performances by Ballet Folklorico and Mariachi San Jose. Two more concerts are planned on July 30 and August 20. Both market and concerts will observe the same hours as the Old Alvarado market. All Tri-City residents are invited to take advantage of this new location in the Mission Boulevard corridor where fresh produce awaits, along with some fine music every so often.
