The Kiwanis Club of Fremont sponsored their annual Ducks for Bucks Race hosted by many nonprofit agencies and schools who participated by selling racing duck adoptions raising $30,949. This money will be distributed to a variety of Tri-City agencies.
The top duck seller was the Newark Girls Softball League, which sold 1,692 ducks - the most ever for any organization in the 12 years since the event began. A total of 28 organizations participated in the race, and a record 9,074 ducks were in the water at Lake Elizabeth in Fremont. Each year the Kiwanis Club holds the Ducks for Bucks race on the last Saturday of April.
