Niles Art Walkby Judy Corrie
This month's art walk features renditions of Charlie Chaplin who made silent movies, including The Tramp, for the Essansay Studios in Niles during the 1920s. During the weekend of June 3 and 4, there will be displays of silent film memorabilia and of Chaplin including Charlie look alikes. The fun begins Friday night by inviting children to draw their perceptions of Chaplin. The art produced will be on display for the rest of the week-end.
Also offered for the evening is a showing of Michael McNevins Etch-a-Sketch art at The Fremont Art Association. They'll have demonstrating artists on hand to answer questions and paint pictures.
Ed Frakes has been busy adding found object sculptures to his cottage garden and has created new "Saints" complete with biographies that are thoughtful and entertaining. The favorite, so far, is St. Leek (there is a vegetable theme here).
Being quirky, there are often last minute additions to this fun event.
The Art Walk is free. Maps are available at 37683 Niles Blvd. after 1:00 p.m. the day of the walk. For further information, call (510) 793-8782.
