The Etch A Sketch art of Michael McNevin
If you thought the Etch A Sketch was just a toy, think again. The art of Michael McNevin makes for a truly unique spring show at the Fremont Art Association gallery in May.
Acclaimed for his music and storytelling lyrics, Michael also illustrates his songs on the little red toy. No kidding. The songs and drawings go hand in hand. With a keen eye for "Americana," Michael brings to life the people and towns of his travels. He also captures the "Huck Finn" childhood he had growing up in Niles. "Bagger" depicts his days working for Rebello's Market on Niles Blvd., as a teenager, "The Ballad Of Big Daddy's" remembers the beloved greasy spoon that used to be at the mouth of Niles Canyon, and "Two Feet Ahead Of The Train" recounts a very close call on a train bridge over the Alameda Creek.
This is Michael's first full exhibit, and will include never-before-seen pieces that have been stored in his closets for years.
The Etch A Sketch art of Michael McNevin Exhibit runs through May 28 Fremont Art Association 37659 Niles Blvd., Fremont (510) 792-0905 |
