Hamster Ball Derby
Move over NASCAR and race on over to the Hamster Ball Derby in Fremont and Union City. Using hamster balls as their vehicles, hamsters will race down an eight-foot track in heats of four (hopefully, but not necessarily, toward the finish line). Heat winners will advance to subsequent rounds until a champion is determined in the final race. Two races will be held if both dwarf and regular-sized hamsters compete.
Registration for the race is free. First-place winners will receive a Critter Operated Chopper, a motorcycle exercise toy fueled by hamster power; a two-pound bag of Fiesta hamster/gerbil food; and, of course, bragging rights.
Spectators are encouraged to join in and cheer on their favorite competitors.
