Kids' Dayby Pushpa Warrier
"The child must know that he is a miracle, that since the beginning of the world there hasn't been, and until the end of the world there will not be, another child like him." - Pablo Casalsrre Over 150 and 200 kids between the ages of 5 and 12 years in Fremont are expected to make their moms very happy on Mother's Day thanks to beautiful flower arrangements they will make on Saturday, May 13. This will be the 6th annual Kid's Day sponsored on the Saturday before Mother's Day at Fremont Flowers and Gifts in Centerville.
The store provides flowers, greenery, baskets, and supplies necessary for children to make Mother's Day arrangements for their mothers and grandmothers. The $12 donation for each arrangement benefits the Fremont Education Foundation (FEF), which sponsors after-school band, sports scholarships and innovative education grants in Fremont schools. Volunteers from FEF provide basic instruction on how to arrange the flowers, and then enjoy watching budding florists at work.
Dirk Lorenz, owner of Fremont Flowers and Gifts, says, "Kids Day is a Fremont Flowers signature event... and one of my personal favorites. Watching the kids work with their dads is heartwarming, considering this floral work of art is a personal expression of their love for mom."
