Quilt Showby Susie Brown
Piecemakers Quilting Guild of Southern Alameda County present Legacies of Love-Treasures Quilt show May 6 and 7; guest artist will be Scarlett Rose (some of her great quilts can be viewed at www.scarlettrose.com). There will be 250 quilts on display as well as raffles, demonstrations, lectures and over 23 vendors.
The Guild will be donating 50 quilts to deserving agencies in the Tri-City area at the show on Saturday. Previous recipients have included hospital chaplains for hospice patients and police departments for children removed from families in crisis situations. Groups serving the elderly, infants and the underprivileged have all received quilts in this twice-yearly donation program. The Guild gives away nearly 150 quilts per year, provides hundreds of "preemie" quilts to hospitals and occasional special quilts to other non-profits for raffle or action items. Persons interested in this program can contact the Guild at P.O. Box 1535, Fremont, CA 94538 or visit www.piecemakersguild.org.
