'A Walk In The Park' at Quarry Lakesby Nikhil Dua
This Saturday promises to be a great time for the whole family at Quarry Lakes in Fremont as they kick off the 2006 Trails Challenge and Kid Challenge with their annual "A Walk In The Park: A Family Health and Lifestyle experience."
Folks are invited to enjoy this day of fun-filled activities and live musical entertainment by Trinity featuring Danielle Savre from the hit WB show "Summerland," and pop-rock sensation, Kristy Frank. Also on hand will be "American Idol Juniors" finalist Grace Leer and Trevor Penick from O-Town.
Event goers can meet Bay Area sport superstars at the interactive Sports Clinic featuring Oakland Raiders Super bowl MVP Quarterback, Jim Plunkett; NBA Hall of Famer Nate Thurmond from the Golden State Warriors; the Warriors cheerleaders; and MVP pitcher Dave Stewart of the Oakland A's, who will all sign autographs.
Kids will enjoy games and activity booths and visit with the Amazing Spider-Man who will be there to show off his super powers as well as the Golden State Warriors mascot Thunder and his Dunk Show complete with a Dunk Pit and Bungee run.
Those who bring a non-perishable food donation will have an opportunity to win prizes from Radio Disney. Donations will benefit the Alameda County Community Food Bank.
There will be a bike ride to the event from Coyote Hills that starts at 8 a.m., leaves Coyote Hills at 9 a.m. and bikes the Alameda Creek Regional Trail east to Quarry Lakes (about 8.5 miles) to join in the fun.
