Computer Tech students take goldby Charlotte Grabill
Mission Valley ROP sent three teams to the 6th annual Silicon Valley StRUT (Students Recycling Used Technology) Computer Competition at Mission College in Santa Clara. A total of 39 teams participated in the competition. Teams had to disassemble and rebuild a computer, provide an oral presentation on the steps taken, troubleshoot a variety of computer problems, and complete a 100 question written exam - all within a required amount of time. MVROP teams, representing American High School did extremely well, winning two gold medals, one silver medal and the overall StRUT competition.
Members of the championship team Louis Chan, Nadir Muzaffar and Mishal Shah, received a laptop computer, gold medal, various gifts, and a Certificate of Recognition from the California State Legislature. These students attend MVROP's Computer Technology Program at American High with instructor Dennis Smith. |
