Flying Fish keep making wavesby Praveena Raman
Club Sport Fremont's Flying Fish have had a great start in 2006. Earlier this year, Pacific Swimming Inc., a part of USA Swimming Inc., awarded Rohan Patnaik Outstanding Swimmer of the Year plaque in the 11-12 age group for his achievements in 2005. Last year Rohan broke a Pacific Swimming record in the 11-12 boys age group for the 50 yard butterfly stroke with a time of 25.78 seconds. This record had been previously set in 1987 and has not been broken until now. Rohan also ranked fifth nationally in the 11-12 age group for the 50 yard butterfly and in the all time top 100 in USA swimming.
Jennifer Xu (12) was selected for the Pacific Swimming Honor Camp in February and together with Brent Hsu (13), Anthony Yeung (8), Justin Ho (10), Megan Crook (8), Bryan Sun (8), Garrett Chan (10), and Jennifer Wu, participated in the Pacific Swimming Zone 2 All Star Championship meet at Diablo Valley College in March. Jennifer Wu was also selected as a coach for the 9-10 year old swimmers at the meet. Jennifer works at ClubSport Fremont as a swim instructor and coaches the Masters level Flying Fish swimmers.
