Community-based projects in the Tri-City community of Fremont, Newark and Union City. On Saturday, Jan. 21, at a luncheon held at the W. Silicon Valley in Newark, recipients were awarded money raised from the Candle Lighters annual Ghost House.
Recipients for this year were:
Annabel Holland and Roger Rabenstad received $15,000 for a special project for the city of Fremont's development of the water park (part of a multi-year commitment); Ingrid Theriault and Joyce Wallace of Family Services of the Tri-Cities for counseling room furniture received $4,718; Shirley Sisk and Jan Vincent of League of Volunteers, $1,750 for audio equipment; Joelle McLaughlin and Barbara Mathias of Fremont Parents Nursery School, $1,490 for signs on school and street; Paul Arvin, Ohlone Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, $1,658 for diagnostic tools and equipment; Principal Tony Kuns and Nanette Costello from Kennedy High School, $14,650 for theatre seats; and Jennifer Pare from Kidango, $12,864 for work tables and chairs for classrooms.
The total contribution from the Candle Lighters was $52,130. |
