New Haven board briefsby Rick LaPlante
The Board of Education on Jan. 3 heard recommendations from the Fiscal Crisis & Management Assistance Team for improving security on the District's technology system. Some of the suggestions from FCMAT, which visited the District in October, were technical in nature; others were as simple as urging employees not to share computer passwords with others and to make sure computers are turned off at the end of the day.
Many of FCMAT's suggestions already have been implemented, and work on other recommendations has begun.
The Board also approved graduation requirements at Conley-Caraballo High School, heard a report on efforts to improve results on the Academic Performance Index (API) and in Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP), and congratulated Jessica Wilder on her appointment as Assistant Principal at Pioneer Elementary School.
