Bond Committee Members Soughtby Gary Leatherman
The Fremont Unified School District is seeking new members for the Citizens' Bond Oversight Committee. The CBOC is an 11-member committee appointed by the Board of Education to monitor the progress of the 2002 Health and Safety Bond, which is providing $157.2 million over six years for improving school facilities.
The committee meets monthly to receive staff reports and presentations from architects and other consultants on the planning and execution of construction projects approved in the bond and financial reports on expenditure of bond funds and is responsible for providing information to the community about the progress of the bond program and for ensuring that projects are developed according to the original intentions of the voters.
Members represent specific community groups, including parents, members of business and tax organizations, and senior citizens and will serve for two years. Applicants need not have a construction or finance background, but must be able to understand construction projects and basic financial reports.
Applications also may be submitted at any time to be considered for appointment to two current vacancies. Applications must be received by Jan. 26 for new members to be appointed in March.
