Fremont Girls U12 Blue Crush Wins Championshipby Tammy Cox
As Champions of Fremont's U12 Division, the Blue Crush advanced to the 24th Crossroads Invitational held in Dublin Nov. 19 and 20. Their first game against Livermore was won with a score of 5 - 1. Two goals were scored by Elizabeth Mooney, one by Katie Frazer, one by Alanna Mozzetti and one by Jamie Camello. Game 2, Dublin was defeated 7 - 1. Two players scored their first goals of the season (Payal Makhijani and Nishi Saksena). Alanna Mozzetti and Katie Frazer each scored two goals and Paige Rath scored one goal.
On Sunday morning, Blue Crush advanced to the championship game with their win against San Ramon II, 3 - 1. Katie Frazer, Elizabeth Mooney and Alanna Mozzetti scored goals. The championship game was won in the afternoon against Newark with a shutout score of 3 - 0 where Katie Frazer had a hat trick and scored all three goals. Paige Rath, Elizabeth Mooney, Claire McGlaggen, Erika Neave, Kellianne Elliott, Aishwarya Thakur and Payal Makhijani played the whole tournament with outstanding defense.
Starting goalie at all games was Jamie Camello, who kept goals to a minimum of two for all four games. Alanna Mozzetti came in at the end of two of the games as substitute goalie. Katie Frazer, Alanna Mozzetti, Jocelyn Gordovez, Chandini Soni, Hannah Johnson, Nishi Saksena, Jenna Hamze and Brianna Thornton all played outstanding offense.
