Pirates and Princesses
The fog finally cleared and a warm afternoon greeted Ghosts, Witches, Goblins, Princesses and Pirates, Dorothy of OZ and the Tin Man plus many more characters at the Candle Lighters Ghost House on October 22nd. Judges were asked to select the funniest, cutest and scariest of the contestants - an extremely difficult task - as they paraded by. Some participants received trophies, but all were declared winners as each received a bag of "goodies" including a pass to venture into the Ghost House. The Candle Lighters were especially grateful to American High School's marching band, decked out in a variety of creative costumes, which led the parade to a lively tune.
The Candle Lighters Ghost House, "Scream Park," is located at the Chadbourne Carriage House at 39169 Fremont Boulevard (between Chili's and Elephant Bar). It is open every day through Sunday, October 30. Hours are Monday - Thursday 6 p.m. - 9 p.m.; Friday, 6 p.m. - 10 p.m.; Saturday, 1 p.m. - 10 p.m. and Sunday, 1 p.m. - 9 p.m. Visitors to the Scream Park can also try their luck at carnival games and feast on Halloween goodies at a mini-carnival on the grounds.
