Fall Family Festival & Flea Marketby Rick La Plante
Vendors from throughout the Bay Area -- and local folks just trying to clean out the garage -- will have items of all kinds of sale Saturday, Oct. 22, at the New Haven Schools Foundation's Fall Family Festival & Flea Market.
The event, also featuring carnival games and a Halloween pumpkin patch for the kids, will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the parking lot at James Logan High School, 1800 H Street, Union City.
Many vendors who sell regularly at the popular Ohlone College and Chabot College flea markets have signed up to sell at the new event, and local residents have been invited to rent space for their own "garage sale.''
Proceeds will help fund the Foundation's programs, including scholarships for Logan and Conley-Caraballo High School seniors, peer tutoring, and support for beginning teachers. The Foundation also is starting a mini-grant program designed to put money directly into classrooms, for supplies and activities impacted by cuts in traditional funding.
Admission to the Festival & Flea Market is free. Carnival tickets, good for one game each, are 10 for $5. Flea market selling spaces start at $30. For more information, call (510) 471-1100, ext. 2004. |
