The Division 1 Boys U-13 Newark Pumas won their home opener Saturday, Sept. 17 against Ballistic Gold from Pleasanton 4-0. Pumas' first goal came from David Morgan from 18 yards out with an assist from Ricky Turula. The Pumas second goal came from Omar Juarez with the assist from Morgan. At halftime - Pumas 2, Ballistic 0. The second half scoring came from a solo shot of Kristian Fuentes and a solo shot from Hector Romaro. Goalkeeper Vinny Olivares records a shutout.
In Sunday's game, Pumas drop a tough one against the ACC Mavericks Aztecas 5-2. All of the scoring came in the first half. Pumas scored first from Turula in the 8 minute. At the 12 minute the Aztecas tied it. Pumas came back to take the lead in the 18 minute with Romeo scoring the second goal on an assist from Fuentes. Aztecas scored the tying goal in the 21st minute. Then Aztecas scored three more unanswered goals before the first half was over. In the second half neither team scored. Goalkeepers Olivares and Roberto Padilla record 7 saves together out 12 shots. |
